The Outdoor Writers Association of California announced its scholarship contest for junior outdoors-related content earlier this week. Today, OWAC announced its media contest as well. Here’s the press release from OWAC:

| OXNARD, CALIF. 11 JAN 2023 – – Calling all columnists! Attention all authors! ‘Photographers, broadcasters, bloggers, and more! Outdoor Writers Association of California (OWAC) announces its 2023 ‘Excellence in Craft’ contest for outdoor media professionals. OWAC is the leading organization for outdoor media professionals in the western region. The annual awards contest is designed to reward exceptional outdoor journalism with clear connection to outdoor recreation, wildlife, public lands, nature, travel, and more, on a breadth of media platforms. Categories include print content for news, features, columns, newsletters and books/guides; feature and action photography; audio, including radio and podcasts; video; and digital; and include a special award for conservation-oriented content. Submissions must have been published or broadcast during the 2022 calendar year; with the exception of books, allowing 2021 or 2022 publication. Entries will be accepted March 1 through 31, 2023 via the website at www.owac.org. Cash prizes will be awarded for top honors. OWAC is a non-profit organization founded in 1986, offering media professionals support, collaboration, conferences and networking opportunities with other experienced outdoor communicators throughout California and the western region.
