After Two-Year Hiatus, NorCal Ocean Salmon Boats Score Big On Opening Day
Whether or not opening up a limited amount of dates for California recreational salmon fishing was a good idea, Saturday’s first of a handful of dates where ocean salmon can be targeted was a big success for many anglers on Bay Area and other Northern California charter boats.
Fish Invader Sportfishing in Berkeley posted a day full of limits on its boat.

Here are a few other social media posts from local saltwater charter guides:

From California Dawn Sportfishing:

Monterey and Moro Bay was “wide open” as well today. There’s a lot of fish out there everyone. We may hit our quota sooner than later which in itself is not a bad thing. It just shows that we have more fish than originally thought. Stocks are on the mend and our hatcheries are doing there job! We have a lot to look forward too.

Our 3/4 day charter had a lot of fun today. Lots of bass showed up in the central bay. We’re still on some good hell fishing but we did pick up our lines at 2:30 today. We landed 20 limits of striped bass and 12 halibut. Our group had a great time on flat calm bay. We have lots of room next week, tides are good for halibut and bass next week. Couldn’t have asked for a better salmon opener!! Our 17 anglers caught limits fast with the big fish going 25lbs!! It sure felt good getting back to what I love to do.
