Government Shutdown Prompts USFWS Coleman Hatchery Salmon Festival Closure This Weekend

The ongoing government shutdown prompted the U.S. Fish and Wildlife to cancel this weekend’s Return of the Salmon Festival at Coleman National Fish Hatchery. Here are some details via a Facebook post:

Due to a lapse in FY 26 appropriations, much of the federal government has been shut down. As a result, the annual Return of the Salmon Festival is cancelled.

Although the Festival is cancelled, the hatchery will still be open to the public on Saturday October 18th from 7:30 AM to 4:00PM and hatchery staff will be spawning fall Chinook salmon on that day.

As a reminder: Due to the federal government shutdown, this account is not being actively updated.
