Sonoma, CA (October 2, 2019) — Please join the Golden State Salmon Association (GSSA) formerly GGSA for an evening of culinary delights, Sonoma County’s finest wines, and to honor Erich Pearson. Erich is the founder of Sparc and operates the Sparc Farm at Gordenker Ranch in Glen Ellen.

Erich is a biodynamic cannabis farmer, a salmon supporter and his water practices in Sonoma Valley are acknowledged as helping to keep the local watershed sustainable and clean.

“We are thrilled to honor Erich this year and he rightfully joins other Sonoma water stewards including Sam Sebastiani, Mike Benziger, Phil Coturri, the Mulas family and Grant Davis”, noted GSSA president John McManus. “Additionally, proceeds will help us continue to fight salmon battles including government water and environmental roll-backs and ocean health while keeping salmon fishing families on the water and salmon on Californians plates.”

The festivities will take place at Viansa Sonoma, 25200 Arnold Drive in Sonoma on Saturday, November 16 starting at 5p.m. The winery known for its wetlands and views, provides a perfect location for the annual GSSA fundraiser.

The evening will begin with an appetizer reception, followed by a dinner featuring California wild King salmon. After dinner, guests will have the opportunity to bid on vacation getaways, quality outdoor gear and salmon fishing trips in 2020, which will sure to be a great season!

All proceeds go to GSSA’s work to restore California’s most important salmon runs. Hope to see you there!

About Viansa Sonoma

Established in February 1990 with the goal of bringing the Northern Italian culture of food and wine to the Sonoma valley and share the rich family history of Vicki and Sam Sebastiani. Viansa winery is located on beautiful hillside in the picturesque Carneros region of Sonoma Valley featuring a 97 acre waterfowl preserve where migratory ducks and geese find sanctuary during on their annual trip between Canada and Mexico. An abbreviation of the names Vicki and Sam, Viansa’s tasting room was designed after the monastery that Samuele Sebastiani immigrated from outside of Lucca in Tuscany. The Sebastiani family has 4 generations of winemaking history in Sonoma Valley starting with Samuele in the early 1900’s, most recently with Chris and Jon Sebastiani returning to Viansa winery to continue their family’s mission of creating quality wines, a place for people to come together and a passion for innovation.

About GSSA

The Golden State Salmon Association (www.goldenstatesalmonassociation.org) is a coalition of salmon advocates that includes commercial and recreational salmon fisherman, businesses, restaurants, a native tribe, environmentalists, elected officials, families and communities that rely on salmon. GSSA’s mission is to protect and restore California’s largest salmon producing habitat comprised of the Central Valley river’s that feed the Bay-Delta ecosystem and the communities that rely on salmon as a long-term, sustainable, commercial, recreational and cultural resource.

Currently, California’s salmon industry is valued at $1.4 billion in economic activity annually in a normal season and about half that much in economic activity and jobs again in Oregon. The industry employs tens of thousands of people from Santa Barbara to northern Oregon. This is a huge economic bloc made up of commercial fishermen, recreational fishermen (fresh and salt water), fish processors, marinas, coastal communities, equipment manufacturers, the hotel and food industry, tribes, and the salmon fishing industry at large.
