Fall Fishing Going Well At Collins Lake

Our friends at Northern California’s outstanding fishery Collins Lake wanted to share some recent photos as fall fishing heats up:

Matt Grimm, who is the founder of the Get Out And Fish (GOAF) Facebook Group, landed this 7 pound Rainbow a couple of weeks ago. Below is part of his post about the catch:

“The day was winding down and we were well on our way to a ? for the day when this monster rainbow hit! This fish almost spooled the pink lady fisher Uglystick it hit on and we were lucky to land it! It came in at 7 pounds and 24 inches!”

Bob Hess of Yuba City caught this 7-pound rainbow trout trolling with a gold Kastmaster in the middle of the lake between the Dam and Marina. His party also landed 6 1/4- and 6 3/4-pound rainbows, also using the gold Kastmaster.

Chris Aiello of Auburn caught this 8.5-pound Rainbow trout and 8-pound lightning trout. He said the rainbow trout hit on a Metal Head fly, and he caught the lightning trout on a Trix Worm.

Don Payne of Antelope caught these two rainbow trout, the largest weighing 7.6 pounds, using garlic chartreuse PowerBait off of the beach.

“Collins Lake opens at sunrise all year for lakefront RV hookup & tent camping, fishing, boating, picnics or just enjoying the beach. We’re famous for our big bass, trophy trout and monstrous ice cream cones!”
