CDFW Officers Cite Angler For Keeping Undersized Halibut In Los Angeles Harbor

California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials are not only checking if anglers have their updated fishing licenses; make sure what you catch is legally sized.
From a CDFW Facebook post:
A wildlife officer on their way to board CDFW patrol boat Coho in the Los Angeles Harbor encountered an angler returning to his vehicle with a bucket of fish — and some suspicious behavior.
Inside the bucket? Several undersized California halibut well below the legal minimum size of 22 inches.
The wildlife officer then asked to inspect the angler’s boat. A quick search revealed even more short halibut — nine in total, including some hidden in the bottom of the boat’s live well.
The angler was cited and the fish seized.
Reminder: Anglers must know size and bag limits before heading out. Fishing regulations are in place to protect California’s resources for future generations.
