Join Us in Securing the Heart of the Pacific Flyway
Dear Friend of California Waterfowl,
California has always been the heart of the Pacific Flyway.
And for generations, hunters have been at the heart of its conservation.
That’s why California Waterfowl is proud to announce the official launch of Heart of the Flyway — a bold campaign to secure the future of waterfowl, wetlands and hunting in California. To achieve this vision, CWA will raise $150 million.
Through this campaign, CWA will work to protect, restore, enhance, and manage 130,000 acres of wetlands and waterfowl-friendly working lands. We will strengthen local duck production, including a goal of producing 230,000 local ducks through our wood duck box and egg salvage programs. We will continue fighting for long-term solutions in the Klamath Basin, expand science-based conservation, advocate for waterfowl and hunters at every level of government, and open the Pacific Flyway Center to the public.
Just as importantly, this campaign will strengthen California’s hunting tradition. CWA will expand youth education and hunt programs, invest in properties that provide habitat and hunting access, and work to create 24,000 hunting opportunities over the life of the campaign.

“This campaign is about recognizing what California means to the Pacific Flyway – and stepping up to meet that responsibility,” said Jake Messerli, Chief Executive Officer of California Waterfowl. “If we want more ducks, better habitat and strong hunting opportunities in the future, the work has to happen here.”
For more than 80 years, California Waterfowl has served the hunters, wetlands and waterfowl of this state. Heart of the Flyway is the next chapter in that mission – and it will take all of us.
