CRPA’s Vision To Protect Firearm Freedoms

unnamed

CRPA is the state organization dedicated to protecting firearm freedoms and promoting shooting sports solely in the State of California.

The California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA), founded in 1875, is a nonprofit membership and donor supported organization with tens of thousands of members throughout California. CRPA’s membership is comprised of a diverse cross-section of the general public including competitive and recreational shooters, hunters, youth, women, police, firearm experts and trainers, and loving parents who choose to own a gun to defend their families.

CRPA works tirelessly to defend the civil and constitutional rights of individuals to choose to responsibly own and use firearms. Through its Sacramento and local legal and political advocates, CRPA works in the state capital and in city halls throughout California to promote laws that protect these rights, and to oppose laws that infringe on these rights.

Through its legal team, CRPA fights in the courts to challenge unconstitutional or illegal gun bans and ill-conceived gun control laws, and provides guidance to California gun owners regarding their legal rights and responsibilities. CRPA works to preserve the traditional role of the citizen to hunt and to conserve and preserve California’s natural resources. CRPA promotes the recreational shooting sports, and provides safety, education, and skills training. CRPA organizes and sanctions competitive shooting matches for both adult and junior shooters, including Olympic training programs and state championships. CRPA is proud to say that many CRPA competitors are among the best in the world.

CRPA is the official state association of the National Rifle Association (NRA), and works together with the NRA, but CRPA is controlled by its own independent Board of Directors. Many of CRPA’s efforts are funded through CRPA’s sister organization, The CRPA Foundation (CRPAF). CRPAF is a 501(c)(3) organization, so contributions to the CRPAF are tax deductible.

The year 2015 marks the 140th anniversary of CRPA and with this monumental birthday comes monumental growth. CRPA is now at gun shows across the entire state nearly every weekend, as well as making appearances and supporting events of other organizations such as the Hunters’ Rights Task Force, Boy Scouts of America, and other youth, wildlife and hunting organizations. CRPA has also started an education program with training classes, as well as developing special events such as the CRPA Three-Day Youth Hunter Camp that sees youth under 17 years old receive hunter education, a California hunter license, a successful hunt and cook-off all in three days.

You can stay up-to-date on everything CRPA is doing by visiting their website, CRPA.org, or following them on social media at facebook.com/CRPA.org or twitter.com/crpanews.
Every dollar that CRPA receives stays and works in California to support your hunting and Second Amendment rights.
